March 27, 2020
We are committed to keeping you updated as the evolving COVID-19 situation affects the construction industry. As you know, Governor Walz signed Executive Order 20-20, directing Minnesotans to stay home beginning midnight today, Friday, March 27. This “Stay at Home” order allows Minnesotans to continue “critical sector” work and does not restrict virtual or telework. As construction is considered an essential business, it isn’t prudent to leave open construction sites for an indefinite amount of time. We will continue performing what work we can.
Immediately, our priority will be on exterior work and then interior work. Because all of our administrative capabilities are already teleworking/home-based, we will continue to make appointments, bid projects, invoice, etc. On site, we will be adjusting our protocol to make sure that we have as few people present as possible – one subcontractor or crew at a time – and adhere to state suggestions regarding hygienic practices both personally and on site, both interior and, when possible, exterior work. Unfortunately this will result in a slowdown, but we believe it is the best way to keep everyone involved safe and healthy. We are grateful for your patience.
For clients who feel comfortable, we will start new jobs as circumstances allow. Different cities are taking different precautions regarding inspections and permits, and many of our subcontractors and vendors are also making independent decisions as to how they will support our projects; these safety measures will affect our ability to start or complete certain jobs. We will continue to move forward during this unpredictable and ever evolving environment, and further adjustments may undoubtedly occur.
Thank you for staying with us during this trying time. As you make this investment in your home, we appreciate that you have chosen to also invest in our small business and your local economy.
